let's recycle!

Yay—let's recycle! Here’s a quick guide for when you've finished using all your products:

1. Make the products 'recycle ready' by rinsing it out and cleaning it. What if the product doesn't work for me? Give it to someone who might like to try it! That way, you will minimise wastage and give the product a second home. ♡♡

2. Get the DETAILS! Typically, most skin care packaging is recyclable in Australia, but what can and can’t be recycled depends on where you live. A quick Google search will reveal a recycling guideline based on your state / territory.

3. Can I put this in my recycling bin? If you've checked and the answer is 'yes', give these items a second life and put them in the recycling bin. If it's not, look into enterprises like TerraCycle, to help you properly recycle your beauty products. If the product is recycable through TerraCycle, it is FREE and all you have to do is gather your empty products together, print a recycling label and ship it out - that’s it! They’ll take care of the rest for you.

FYI, recycling plants uses numbers ranging from 1 to 7 to help sort all the materials. PETE stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and PP stands for Polypropylene — these are both plastics. PAP represents paper / mixed paper / cardboard. See Earth Easy to learn more about your plastics.

That's it babes! Remember to love our earth; love our planet! #dontbetrashy

It's suitable for most skin types, and isn't too heavy on oily skin. However, it leaves a white cast (as most "tone up" creams do) - so isn't suitable for tan and deep skin tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is V7 Toning Light Cream?

The V7 Toning Light Cream from Dr Jart is from the "tone-up" creams category, a uniquely Asian beauty product that uses physical UV filters to immediately brighten the skin. The V7 Toning Light uses titanium dioxide, a safe and popular physical UV filter which means these products all provide a measure of sun protection. However, as with most products employing physical sunscreen filters, they can leave a white cast on darker skin tones and the V7 Toning Light Cream is no exception in this regard. It is not melanin-friendly and works best on fair skin.

Does Dr Jart V7 Toning Light Cream bleach the skin?

The V7 Toning Light Cream from Dr Jart does not bleach the skin. It is essentially a niacinamide moisturizing cream with titanium dioxide. Kanvas Beauty as a matter of policy doesn't stock any products with ingredients intended to bleach skin. Quite simply, bleaching products are not good for the skin, and shouldn't be considered skincare. Nor does it fall in line with our PoC-friendly values.

What is the difference between toning and lightening the skin?

Toning creams refer to any creams with physical UV filters that can immediately even out the skin. For fair skin with hyperpigmentation (e.g. sun spots, acne scars), this category of creams provide an alternative to makeup and concealers (helpful in humid climates). The UV filters also provide an extra degree of sun protection. Lightening the skin refers to bleaching skin products, none of which Kanvas Beauty stocks.

Can I sleep with Dr Jart V7 Toning Light Cream on?

It's perfectly safe to sleep with the Dr Jart V7 Toning Light Cream - it is essentially like sleeping with your sunscreen on. Not quite necessary but not unsafe, either! There are other beneficial ingredients in this formula such as niacinamide, panthenol and macadamia seed oil that will nourish skin as you sleep.

Does the Dr Jart V7 Toning Light Cream provide UV protection?

Because its formula includes titanium dioxide, the Dr Jart V7 Toning Light Cream does provide an element of UV protection. However, this product as not been rated as a sunscreen, hence the level of protection is unknown. Always wear a broadspectrum sunscreen on top of this product, particularly under the harsh Australian sun!
